Meet artist, Shirley Benz. Her multi-faceted career has encompassed painting in both watercolor and acrylics. As a young woman Shirley painted at the Cellar Gallery in Kirkland, Washington. Several years later she transitioned into painting in acrylics for a show in Lake Oswego, Oregon, at the Golden Legend Gallery in 1968 – her first solo show. Her expertise in color and design grew from a 28 year career in fashion as a Color and Image consultant, and as a Fashion Coordinator for Nordstrom in Washington State. Her creative flair for art and color was again displayed in the 1970's where Shirley designed and marketed one-of-a-kind handbags in her "Original Roo Baggerie Boutique" in Lake Oswego. Her most recent endeavor was having her paintings on display in the Lexus of Portland Salon Gallery, where Shirley and her art was chosen to be featured in a nationwide promotional video. Shirley's talents began to flow from her love of art in painting and design and blossomed into her most ardent passion for the French impressionist style, with its flowing, loose technique and vibrant use of color. Shirley's watercolors of women, flowers, beaches, homes, gardens and animals are available for purchase or by commission. Images are also available as prints or greeting cards.
